While George Crum never imagined his little 'accident' in the kitchen in his restaurant would grow to become such a great thing in America, he sure didn't imagine it would evolve into being a snack favorite all across the globe. Potato chips didn't reach foreign shores until the mid 20th century, first in Europe and then gradually throughout other lands and cultures. Potato crisps as they are called in Europe, are the leading snack item in both the United Kingdom and Germany. This is the case in Australia as well and many other countries in Asia and South America also have makers of the snack. Below are few of the samples one can try as they travel the globe. And some of these sure do have unique flavors. First off is the U.K.'s Walker's, with their 'prawn cocktail,' and 'worcester sauce' flavors.
